'Housefull 5' Faces Weekend Test After Box Office Dip; Crosses ₹133 Crore Mark

Akshay Kumar's much-anticipated comedy ensemble, 'Housefull 5,' which burst onto the box office scene with a roaring start, appears to be settling into a more moderate pace. While the film captivated audiences and enjoyed robust numbers throughout its inaugural week, its eighth day in cinemas marked the lowest collection to date, pulling in an estimated ₹6 crore. Nevertheless, this latest installment in the popular franchise has impressively surpassed the ₹133 crore milestone in its net India collections, as per early estimations from Sacnilk.
A Blockbuster Opening Weekend Fuels Early Success
'Housefull 5' truly made a grand entrance at the box office. The film garnered an impressive ₹24 crore on its opening Friday, followed by a strong Saturday with ₹31 crore and an even more significant Sunday tally of ₹32.5 crore. By the close of its first weekend, the comedy had already amassed a substantial ₹87.5 crore, setting a high benchmark.
However, as is typical for most cinematic releases, the weekday collections have seen a gradual decline:
♦ Day 4 (Monday): ₹13 crore
♦ Day 5 (Tuesday): ₹11.25 crore
♦ Day 6 (Wednesday): ₹8.5 crore
♦ Day 7 (Thursday): ₹7 crore
♦ Day 8 (Friday, June 13, 2025): ₹6 crore
With these figures, 'Housefull 5' now stands at a cumulative total of ₹133.25 crore (net) across India by the end of its eighth day, based on initial projections by Sacnilk.
Audience Turnout Sees a Drop on Day 8
Reflecting the dip in collections, 'Housefull 5' also experienced a noticeable reduction in audience footfall on its eighth day. The overall Hindi occupancy on Friday, June 13, 2025, registered at 11.71%. Morning shows saw a rather modest 5.51% occupancy, while afternoon and evening screenings recorded 12.73% and 11.74% respectively. The night shows, however, showed a slight recovery with 16.85% occupancy. This kind of weekday decline is a common pattern in the industry, and trade analysts are now keenly observing whether the upcoming weekend will provide the film with a much-needed boost in momentum.
A Galaxy of Stars Powering the Franchise
A significant factor contributing to 'Housefull 5's initial pull has undoubtedly been its sprawling star cast. Leading the comedic charge once again is Akshay Kumar, a staple of the 'Housefull' series, joined by the familiar faces of Abhishek Bachchan and Riteish Deshmukh, who bring their signature comedic timing to the forefront.
The ensemble extends to a formidable female cast including Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri, Soundarya Sharma, and Sonam Bajwa. The film further enriches its comedic tapestry with a long list of beloved industry veterans and popular names such as Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Nana Patekar, Chunky Panday, Johnny Lever, Shreyas Talpade, Dino Morea, Ranjeet, Nikitin Dheer, Chitrangda Singh, and Fardeen Khan.
With the second Friday's collections marking the lowest point so far, all eyes are now firmly on the weekend's performance to see if 'Housefull 5' can regain its stride and add substantially to its already impressive box office tally.
