Akshay Kumar’s Housefull 5 is making waves at the box office, crossing the Rs 200 crore mark globally within just nine days of its release. Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala’s Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, the latest installment of the popular comedy franchise has so far grossed approximately Rs 155 crore domestically and Rs 48 crore from overseas markets, bringing its worldwide total to Rs 203 crore.
Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike, Housefull 5 has provided a much-needed boost for Akshay Kumar, whose recent films struggled to draw crowds. Directed by Tushar Mansukhani, the movie is projected to finish with a global gross of around Rs 275 crore during its theatrical run, which would be considered a solid performance given its average reception.
The film, which has a hefty production budget of Rs 225 crore, stands as Bollywood’s most expensive comedy to date.
Looking ahead, Housefull 5 faces stiff competition from Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par, set to release next weekend. With a wide release planned on 3,000 screens nationwide, Aamir’s sports comedy drama could impact the box office run of Akshay Kumar’s film.
As audiences gear up for this clash of big-budget comedies, industry watchers are closely monitoring how Housefull 5 will hold up against the new entrant.
