The Telugu crime thriller HIT: The Third Case, featuring actor Nani in the lead role, is now available for streaming on Netflix. The film, directed by Sailesh Kolanu, also stars Srinidhi Shetty and is part of the expanding HIT franchise.
While the film has garnered attention for its narrative and performances, controversy erupted following the release of the Tamil-dubbed version. A specific dialogue delivered near the climax has triggered outrage among Telugu-speaking audiences. In the original Telugu version, actor Karthi appears in a cameo, introducing his character for the next installment, HIT 4, with the line, “Do you think I don’t know Telugu? I am bilingual.”
However, in the Tamil version, the same dialogue includes the term “Golti,” a slang expression often viewed as derogatory towards the Telugu community. The alteration has drawn criticism for its offensive tone, with viewers expressing concern and disappointment across social media platforms. Several clips highlighting the moment have circulated widely, amplifying public reaction.
The production team, led by Nani and Prashanti Tipirneni under the Wall Poster Cinema banner, has not yet issued a statement. Director Kolanu and the streaming platform are facing mounting pressure to address the issue.
