“HIT: The Third Case,” the latest chapter in Sailesh Kolanu’s HIT series starring Nani, drew robust business on its opening day despite sharing screens with Suriya’s “Retro” and Ajay Devgn’s “Raid 2.”

The action thriller collected Rs 18 crore net in India on May 1, according to Sacnilk. Telugu-language showings accounted for Rs 17.25 crore, while dubbed versions contributed smaller sums: Tamil Rs 0.35 crore, Hindi Rs 0.25 crore, Kannada Rs 0.05 crore and Malayalam Rs 0.01 crore.

This opening stands as Nani’s second-highest after “Dasara,” which earned Rs 23.72 crore on its first day in 2023.

On Instagram, Nani acknowledged audience reaction by posting a film poster with the caption, “This MAY it’s MAYHEM at BOXOFFICE. I love you all. Today it’s Arjun sarkaar’s turn. This truly is memorable. Onward and upward. #HIT3.”

In “HIT: The Third Case,” Special Police Officer Arjun Sarkaar (Nani) investigates a string of murders linked by a single method. Srinidhi Shetty appears as Mrudula, and Prateik Smita Patil portrays the suspect known as Alpha.

Series alumni Vishwak Sen and Adivi Sesh attended the pre-release event and offered support. Nani, whose production company launched in 2018, has overseen titles including “Awe,” “Court: State vs. a Nobody” and all three HIT installments.

With “Retro” and “Raid 2” also in theatres, box-office figures for the coming weekend will reveal which release gains the upper hand.
