In an unusual move following mixed audience reactions, the makers of Pawan Kalyan's historical action film Hari Hara Veera Mallu have released a revised version of the movie in theatres.
The film, which had been under production for years and was finally released recently, did not receive the expected response from fans and critics. Within days of release, the production team opted for immediate changes to improve engagement.
Director Jyothi Krishna and his editing team worked to streamline several sequences. The updated version began screening from July 27, 2025.
One significant change is in the post-interval horse-riding sequence near a cliff. The scene has been trimmed for pacing. Another controversial moment, referred to as the “flag scene,” showing a warped image of Pawan Kalyan’s face, has been removed completely after receiving negative feedback. An archery scene was reworked for visual clarity.
The climax, originally filled with prolonged dramatic moments and cyclone visuals, underwent heavy edits. The new version wraps up with a concise ending, highlighted by Bobby Deol’s dialogue, “Aandhi Vachesindhi.” Overall, 10–15 minutes of footage were cut from the original.
Initial reactions to the edited version from late-night viewers suggest improved pacing and engagement. However, box office performance remains tepid, and whether the revised film can gain traction is yet to be seen.
Despite Pawan Kalyan’s star power, ticket sales have not surged following the re-edit. The coming week is expected to determine the film’s final standing at the box office.
