Dude Box Office Collection Day 2: Pradeep Ranganathan’s rom-com continues strong Diwali run with ₹19.75 crore in 2 days

The latest Tamil romantic comedy by Pradeep Ranganathan, Dude, is still shining bright at the box office, especially through the Diwali weekend. Directed by Keerthiswaran, the film witnessed a growth of 3% on its second day and even held its ground against some big releases.

Opening for the viewers on the eve of October 17, Dude opened with great turnout. It was retained on Day 2, Saturday, with an increase of 2.56% in revenue as per preliminary box-office estimates.

As per data from Sacnilk, the film collected ₹10 crore net in India on Day 2, taking its two-day domestic total to ₹19.75 crore. Produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y. Ravi Shankar under Mythri Movie Makers, the film continues to draw audiences despite stiff competition during the festive week.

On its opening day, Dude earned ₹9.75 crore net, recording an impressive 55.43% Tamil occupancy on Saturday, October 18.

About the Film

Dude marks Keerthiswaran’s directorial debut and stars Pradeep Ranganathan alongside Mamitha Baiju, R. Sarathkumar, Rohini, and Hridhu Haroon. The movie, made on a ₹25–30 crore budget, follows the story of childhood friends Agan and Kural navigating love, friendship, and self-discovery.

Worldwide Performance

The makers announced on Instagram that “The DUDE DIWALI BLAST takes off on a blockbuster note,” confirming a ₹22 crore worldwide gross on Day 1. Of this, ₹11.5 crore came from India and ₹8 crore from overseas markets.

Competition and Industry Buzz

Dude continues to outperform Dhruv Vikram’s action thriller Bison: Kaalamaadan. While Bison opened with ₹2.55 crore net and grew slightly to ₹3.12 crore on Day 2, it remains far behind Dude’s strong run.

Film trade analyst Ramesh Bala also revealed that the Dude team’s special Diwali interview will release today at 11:00 AM, following media events in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam.

Outlook

With positive word of mouth, strong youth appeal, and festive tailwinds, Dude is expected to witness further growth on Day 3 (Sunday), potentially emerging as one of the biggest Tamil hits of Diwali 2025.
