Dude Box Office Day 1: Pradeep Ranganathan Film Beats Love Today, Targets Dragon Record

Pradeep Ranganathan’s latest romantic comedy Dude has opened strongly at the box office, surpassing the first-day numbers of his 2022 hit Love Today and Mamitha Baiju’s Premalu. Directed by debutant Keerthiswaran, the film hit theatres this Friday and is already performing above expectations.
‘Dude’ Box Office Collection Day 1 (as of 6 PM)
According to early estimates by trade tracker Sacnilk, Dude has earned ₹5.56 crore net in India as of 6 PM on Friday. The film’s strong opening has already overtaken Love Today’s ₹2.45 crore debut and Premalu’s ₹90 lakh opening.
Pradeep’s previous release Dragon had opened with ₹6.5 crore, and trade analysts predict Dude could surpass that figure by the end of its first day. The film also registered an impressive ₹3.89 crore from advance bookings, signaling solid audience anticipation.
About ‘Dude’
Dude revolves around Agan (Pradeep Ranganathan) and Kural (Mamitha Baiju), two childhood friends whose bond is tested when romance enters the equation. The film explores family dynamics when Agan’s mother Parvathy (Rohini) harbors a long-standing feud with Kural’s father, politician Athiyamaan Azhagappan (R. Sarathkumar). The plot takes unexpected emotional turns after Kural’s marriage proposal disrupts their seemingly perfect world.
The supporting cast includes Hridhu Haroon, Dravid Selvam, Aishwarya Sharma, Neha Shetty, and Satya, with music composed by Sai Abhyankkar.
Critical Reception
Early reviews have been mixed. Hindustan Times noted,
“Dude could’ve been an easy-breezy love story that helped Agan win the day in more ways than one. But then, it wouldn’t be a Pradeep-coded story. Keerthiswaran puts both his leads through the wringer instead of taking the easy route.”
As the film continues to draw crowds, all eyes are on whether Dude can beat Dragon’s first-day record and set a new benchmark for Pradeep Ranganathan’s growing box office streak.
