It has been confirmed by director Hwang Dong-hyuk that Squid Game Season 3, which premieres on June 27, 2025, would be the last episode of the main series. "This season was intended to be the end of the narrative arc," he said. But through spin-off series, Hwang indicated interest in extending the Squid Game universe and delving into the mysterious organization's beginnings and undiscovered character backstories. Although there aren't any particular projects underway, Hwang is still open to new possibilities.

Contestants' moral limits and emotional fortitude will be put to the test in the most scary and psychologically taxing game yet in Season 3. Wi Ha-joon, Lee Jung-jae as Seong Gi-hun, and Lee Byung-hun as the Front Man are among the cast members who are returning. There will be important roles for new characters as well, such Chul-su, who was first presented in the Season 2 post-credit scene.

The potential for spin-offs to go deeper into the Squid Game universe while fans wait for the series finale keeps the suspense high.
