The prehistoric giants have once again stomped their way onto Indian cinema screens, as "Jurassic World: Rebirth" wrapped up its first week with a respectable, though not earth-shattering, performance at the box office. The highly anticipated sequel garnered approximately Rs. 61.50 crore (USD 7.20 million) in its inaugural seven days, leaving industry observers to ponder its long-term prospects.

Compared to its immediate predecessors, "Rebirth" shows a mixed bag of results. While it has edged out "Jurassic World: Dominion," which collected Rs. 59 crore (including Thursday previews), it trails slightly behind "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom," which managed a healthier Rs. 68 crore (also with previews). This places "Rebirth" in a curious middle ground, neither a runaway success nor a significant disappointment.

The film enjoyed a healthy surge in collections over its opening weekend, fueling hopes of a strong run toward the coveted Rs. 100 crore mark. However, these aspirations faced a significant hurdle with a sharper-than-expected drop on Monday. While the weekdays that followed saw some stabilization, the initial momentum had clearly dwindled.

Here's a detailed look at "Jurassic World: Rebirth's" day-wise box office collections in India:

DayGross
FridayRs. 10.00 cr.
SaturdayRs. 15.25 cr.
SundayRs. 18.25 cr.
MondayRs. 5.00 cr.
TuesdayRs. 5.25 cr.
WednesdayRs. 4.00 cr.
ThursdayRs. 3.75 cr.

The path to Rs. 100 crore is still plausible for "Rebirth," but its trajectory hinges heavily on its performance this coming Friday. The road ahead, however, is fraught with new challenges. The much-anticipated release of "Superman," coupled with several other new films, is expected to significantly impact "Rebirth's" screen count and audience draw.

Interestingly, "Rebirth" is poised to surpass "Jurassic World: Dominion's" total collections in India – a feat it is unlikely to achieve in most other global markets. This, however, is less a testament to "Rebirth's" overwhelming success and more an indication of "Dominion's" underwhelming performance in a market historically strong for the "Jurassic" brand. The original "Jurassic Park," released in 1994, would translate to over Rs. 300 crore in today's money, while the 2015 legacy sequel, "Jurassic World," would adjust to over Rs. 200 crore. In this context, even reaching Rs. 100 crore would still be considered a modest outcome, highlighting the shifting landscape of blockbuster expectations.

Note: The box office figures mentioned above are exclusive of 3D charges, aligning with standard reporting norms in India. Including 3D charges, "Jurassic World: Rebirth" has grossed approximately Rs. 69.50 crore (USD 8.10 million) in India.
