Dhurandhar: The Revenge smashes records with $82 million global opening weekend

The high-octane spy-action sequel Dhurandhar: The Revenge has delivered a historic box office performance, earning $82.4 million worldwide in its opening weekend. Backed by massive advance bookings and sold-out shows, the film has set a new benchmark for Hindi-language cinema globally, marking one of the biggest openings in Indian film history.
Jio Studios and B62 Studios’ Dhurandhar: The Revenge has taken the global box office by storm, grossing an impressive INR 761 crore ($82.4 million) during its opening weekend. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the spy-action sequel recorded the highest-ever opening weekend for a Hindi-language film worldwide.
The film’s blockbuster debut was powered by unprecedented advance bookings and overwhelming audience demand, resulting in packed theatres across domestic and international markets. In India alone, the film earned $59.5 million, while overseas markets contributed $22.8 million across an extended four-day opening period that included early previews in North America.
Despite falling short of the all-time Indian opening record held by Pushpa 2: The Rule, which grossed $92.5 million globally, the latest installment has firmly established itself as the biggest Hindi-language opener to date.
Domestically, the film shattered multiple records, including highest advance ticket sales, fastest entry into the INR 300 crore club, and most tickets sold in a single day. Ticketing platform BookMyShow reported a peak rate of over 109,000 tickets sold per hour—an all-time high.
Internationally, the film achieved remarkable success across key territories. In North America, it collected $10 million over the weekend and $14 million over five days, surpassing the previous record set by Pathaan starring Shah Rukh Khan. The opening figures also approached the long-standing benchmark set by Baahubali 2: The Conclusion.
The film also performed strongly in the UK, debuting at number two in the overall box office charts with $2.8 million. Additionally, it expanded into non-traditional international markets such as Uruguay, Ukraine, Romania, and Chile, signaling the growing global reach of Indian cinema.
Featuring Ranveer Singh in dual roles, alongside R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Sanjay Dutt, the film blends action, espionage, and high-scale production values. Its release was strategically timed around festive celebrations such as Gudi Padwa and Ugadi, further boosting footfall.
The record-breaking performance builds on the success of its predecessor, which was re-released globally ahead of the sequel’s launch to build anticipation.
With its massive opening, Dhurandhar: The Revenge has set a new gold standard for Hindi cinema, reinforcing Bollywood’s growing dominance in the global entertainment market.
