Ranveer Singh's spy thriller 'Dhurandhar' has crossed the Rs 500 crore mark at the Indian box office, thereby claiming its place among the fastest-grossing films in Bollywood. The film reached this impressive figure within just 16 days and broke the record of Jawan by Shah Rukh Khan that had taken 18 days for the same, as per the report of the box office tracker Sacnilk.com.
The action thriller film in Hindi is still very popular with the audience in the crowded theaters across India and is even collecting more revenue which makes it a very successful film. The critics have also pointed out that the movie's continuous performance has set new standards for speed and revenue in modern-day Bollywood.
Dhurandhar's OTT release is creating a lot of excitement amidst the theatrical success. It is rumored that Netflix has acquired the streaming rights, with the digital release set for January 30, 2026. It is also said that there will be a simultaneous Telugu version, which will further help in providing access to non-Hindi-speaking audiences.
Dhurandhar is directed, co-produced, and written by Aditya Dhar who also produces it in partnership with Jio Studios and B62 Studios. The star cast includes Ranveer Singh as the main lead along with Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi. The other actors who will be seen in small yet important roles are Manav Gohil, Danish Pandor, Saumya Tandon, Gaurav Gera, and Naveen Kaushik.
The movie is intended to be the first part of a two-installment series showing a decade-long Indian intelligence mission. The story revolves around an undercover agent who is trying to control the criminal and political connections of Karachi while dealing with covert operations, shifting alliances, and the backdrop of geopolitical tension.
The Central Board of Film Certification rated the movie Dhurandhar as a work of fiction, but the director still managed to introduce elements he got from real events. Moreover, the story is based on some historical incidents such as the 1999 IC-814 hijacking, the 2001 Indian Parliament attack, the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks among others, while at the same time combining the fiction of a spy story with these factual reference points.
