Triptii Dimri and Siddhant Chaturvedi in Dhadak 2, which opened at ₹3.35 crore amidst stiff box office competition.

Industry tracker Sacnilk reports that Dhadak 2, the love drama starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, had a modest debut at the box office, earning ₹3.35 crore nett on Day 1. Dhadak 2 has joined a busy and competitive theatrical market, having been released alongside high-profile films like Son of Sardaar 2 and the box office titan Saiyaara.
Unimpressive The first Dhadak (2018), which made ₹8.7 crore on its debut and went on to earn ₹74.19 crore nett in India, with a total worldwide collection of ₹113 crore, outperformed Dhadak 2's opening day performance. The critically acclaimed Marathi film Sairat served as the inspiration for the first movie, which starred Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter.
Although the plot of Dhadak 2 is unrelated to that of the first movie, comparisons were unavoidable given that the second movie lacked the buzz and star power of the first.
Competitors Like "Saiyaara" Are Hard to Beat
The date of the movie's premiere was a significant obstacle because, in its third week, Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda's Saiyaara was still playing in theatres. The love drama has already made over ₹440 crore worldwide and is still a big hit with audiences. On the same day, Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur's Son of Sardaar 2 was released. It made ₹6.65 crore, which was almost twice as much as Dhadak 2's opening.
The competition between Kingdom 2 and Fantastic Four for viewers' attention this weekend further complicates Dhadak 2's road to success.
Occupancy and Performance by Region
On Day 1, the movie's average occupancy rate in India was 22.85%. While evening and night shows marginally increased to 22.03% and 32.07%, respectively, morning and afternoon shows garnered 15.02% and 22.29% occupancy.
The largest response was in the NCR region, with 432 shows and an average occupancy rate of 32.5%.
With 339 performances and 22.75% occupancy, Mumbai came next.
What's Coming Up
Dhadak 2, which is helmed by Shazia Iqbal, aims to gain ground this weekend. Before it may start losing screens to more well-known artists, the producers are counting on word-of-mouth and the allure of the star cast to help stabilise collections.
Siddhant Chaturvedi, Triptii Dimri, Saurabh Sachdeva, Vipin Sharma, and Manjiri Pupala all play important parts in the movie.
