Actor Deepika Padukone has become the first Indian actress to be named in the Hollywood Walk of Fame’s Class of 2026 — a groundbreaking moment for Indian representation in global entertainment.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced the prestigious list during a live event, with Padukone selected in the Motion Pictures category. She joins an impressive lineup of international honourees including Demi Moore, Emily Blunt, Rachel McAdams, Timothée Chalamet, Rami Malek, and Stanley Tucci.

The final list of 35 inductees was chosen from hundreds of nominations by a dedicated selection panel during a June 20 meeting, and later approved by the Chamber’s board of directors.

“We are proud to honour these 35 remarkable talents whose contributions have left a lasting impact on the world of entertainment,” said Peter Roth, former Warner Bros. Television CEO and current chairman of the Walk of Fame selection committee. “Deepika Padukone’s influence is truly global.”

Padukone’s inclusion is the latest milestone in a career marked by international acclaim. In 2018, she was named one of TIME magazine’s 100 most influential people in the world and later received the TIME100 Impact Award for her advocacy in mental health.

She made global headlines again in 2022 when she unveiled the FIFA World Cup trophy during the final in Qatar, cementing her as a cultural ambassador beyond cinema.

The star has also made waves in the fashion industry, becoming the first Indian ambassador for iconic luxury brands like Louis Vuitton and Cartier. Her presence at global fashion weeks and red carpets has reshaped how Indian celebrities are perceived on the international stage.

Despite her global reach, Deepika remains one of the most successful and highest-paid actresses in Indian cinema. With several major projects lined up—including a collaboration with director Atlee—she is poised to return to work following a short break for maternity.

Deepika Padukone’s induction into the Hollywood Walk of Fame isn’t just a personal triumph; it's a landmark moment for Indian talent on the global stage.
