Deepika Padukone Exits Sandeep Reddy Vanga's 'Spirit' Amidst Disagreements

Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone has reportedly exited the much-anticipated film Spirit, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and starring Prabhas. Initially, Padukone was set to play the female lead, a role praised for its depth and complexity. However, Deepika requested to work for eight hours a day, which would only give her six hours of actual shooting.
Though till then things were manageable, it got worse when she demanded the huge amount of Rs. 20 crore, her highest fee she has ever asked. Along with that, she reportedly demanded shares in the movie's profit.
While these demands are considered standard in many international film industries, they reportedly did not align with the practices of the Indian film industry, leading to a reevaluation of her involvement.
Hence, with Padukone's departure, the makers of Spirit are reportedly considering other options for the female lead. In fact, the film is slated to begin production in 2024, with a planned release in the first half of 2027, but it got delayed due to her pregnancy.
Furthermore, after a break, she is going to appear on the big screen with Brahmastra Part Two: Dev. In fact, Deepika is reportedly working on a Bollywood remake of The Intern alongside Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan.
