On August 14, 2025, over the weekend of Independence Day, Rajinikanth's Coolie and Hrithik Roshan-Jr. NTR's War 2 were released together. Despite having a strong start, both films' first week's receipts have slowed. Still, Rajinikanth's action entertainer remains superior to the YRF spy-universe movie.
"Coolie" Continues to Lead "War 2"
Thanks to Rajinikanth's enormous fan base and Lokesh Kanagaraj's action-packed directing, Coolie has dominated the box office from the start. The movie made ₹1.64 crore by day eight, bringing its total earnings to ₹224.23 crore. Rajinikanth's star power and Anirudh Ravichander's music have kept audiences interested despite the film's mixed reviews.
"War 2" Is Unable to Sustain the Initial Excitement
However, despite being a part of the popular YRF spy universe, War 2, which was directed by Ayan Mukerji and starred Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR, has had trouble keeping up. The movie only made ₹1.38 crore by day 8, bringing its total to ₹200.63 crore. The plot of the movie hasn't been well received by viewers, despite well-known actors and high expectations.

Concerning the Movies
Coolie: With cameos from Pooja Hegde and Aamir Khan, the film, which was directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, stars Rajinikanth, Akkineni Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, Upendra Rao, and Soubin Shahir. It's interesting that the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU) does not include it.
The sixth entry in the YRF Spy Universe is War 2, which was directed by Ayan Mukerji. It stars Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor, and Ashutosh Rana in addition to Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR.
As the second weekend draws near, everyone is watching to see if Rajinikanth's Coolie will continue its winning run at the box office or if War 2 can regain its lost ground.
