Coolie vs War 2 Box Office Day 14: Rajinikanth Surges Ahead of Hrithik Roshan-Jr NTR

Rajinikanth’s Coolie continues to dominate War 2 at the domestic box office, with both films wrapping up their second week on different notes.

On its second Wednesday, Coolie collected ₹4.50 crore, taking its total domestic earnings to ₹268.75 crore. In its opening week alone, the film had minted ₹229.75 crore, showing strong hold in the Tamil-speaking regions.

Meanwhile, War 2 witnessed slower momentum. The Hrithik Roshan–Jr NTR starrer earned ₹2.50 crore on the same day, taking its domestic total to ₹229.75 crore. The film had opened with ₹204.25 crore in week one but failed to show substantial growth in week two.

This makes Coolie the stronger performer between the two, despite both films facing challenges in sustaining momentum.

Trade Expert’s Take

Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh stated that both releases underperformed compared to expectations. “War 2 is a flop. It’s the first flop from the YRF Spy Universe. Coolie worked well in the Tamil belt but struggled in Hindi-speaking markets,” he noted.

Adarsh also emphasized that content continues to outweigh star power: “War 2 is a very weak film. Content always makes the difference.”

On the buzz around other big releases affecting collections, he added that even Saiyaara was slowing down after Mahavatar Narsimha hit screens.

Coolie: Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, this marks Rajinikanth’s 171st film. The movie stars Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, and Sathyaraj, with Aamir Khan making a cameo appearance. Produced by Kalanithi Maran’s Sun Pictures, it has been a big draw in South India.

War 2: Directed by Ayan Mukerji, this action thriller brings Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR together for the first time, alongside Kiara Advani. A sequel to the 2019 blockbuster War, it is part of Yash Raj Films’ ambitious Spy Universe.
