Coolie Movie Review Rajinikanth’s Power-Packed Performance Wins Hearts, Story Falls Short
Rajinikanth’s latest Pan-India film Coolie delivers a stellar performance from the superstar and an impressive supporting cast, but its story and screenplay remain average, says Dubai critic Umer Sandhu.
Rajinikanth in Coolie: A powerful performance in a star-studded Pan-India spectacle.

Produced by Kalanidhi Maran under Sun Pictures, superstar Rajinikanth's eagerly awaited movie Coolie is scheduled for a major global release in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada on August 14, 2025. Nagarjuna Akkineni, Aamir Khan, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Shruti Haasan, Pooja Hegde, and Sathyaraj are among the ensemble cast members of the high-profile Pan-India film.
The film features editing by Philomin Raj, cinematography by Girish Gangadharan, and music composed by Anirudh Ravichander. Coolie has already created a lot of buzz thanks to its all-star lineup, number-one songs, and enormous hype.
The film finished its censorship procedures in Dubai prior to its release. Umer Sandhu, a self-described critic from Dubai who says he saw the film, posted his initial thoughts on social media.
Sandhu claims that Rajinikanth fans view Coolie as a "Paisa Vasool" performer. He referred to the superstar's dominant performance as a "one-man show" and a "strong comeback." Sandhu also praised the supporting cast's performances, pointing out that they all had strong acting.
Sandhu, however, described the plot and screenplay as "average" and was less impressed. He emphasized that the last 20 minutes and the climax are especially exciting and deserving of being seen on a large screen. He gave Coolie an overall rating of 3.5 out of 5.
Fans will have to make their own judgments when Coolie opens in theaters, even though Sandhu's reviews frequently provoke discussion by occasionally forecasting hits that fail and vice versa.
