Rajinikanth’s Coolie crosses ₹216 crore in India, outshining War 2 at the box office.

Superstar Rajinikanth’s latest blockbuster Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, has continued its impressive run at the box office. Despite a slight dip in weekday collections, the film has crossed ₹216 crore net in India within just six days, and more than ₹400 crore worldwide.
A Grand Opening
Released on Independence Day weekend, Coolie opened to massive numbers. On Day 1 (Thursday), the film collected ₹65 crore, setting the stage for a strong run. However, collections gradually dipped: ₹54.75 crore on Friday, ₹39.5 crore on Saturday, and ₹35.25 crore on Sunday.
Weekday Collections
As expected, weekdays tested the film’s strength. On Monday, Coolie earned ₹12 crore, followed by ₹9.5 crore on Tuesday, bringing the total to ₹216 crore net in India.
Clash with ‘War 2’
The Rajinikanth starrer faced direct competition from Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s action spectacle War 2, which also released on the same day. However, on its sixth day, Coolie remained ahead, collecting more than War 2’s ₹8.25 crore. The domestic total of War 2 currently stands at ₹190 crore, keeping it behind Rajinikanth’s film.
Worldwide Performance
Globally, Coolie has already stormed past the ₹400 crore mark, placing it among Rajinikanth’s top-grossing films. Industry analysts expect the film to continue its strong momentum, though it faces stiff competition from upcoming releases.
The Story
Coolie follows Deva (Rajinikanth), a former union leader who sets out to uncover the mystery behind his friend’s sudden death. The film features Sathyaraj, Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, Shruti Haasan, Rachita Ram, and Upendra, with a special appearance by Aamir Khan.
Verdict
Despite weekday drops, Coolie remains the clear winner at the box office. With strong fan support and Lokesh Kanagaraj’s mass-action storytelling, the film looks set to further strengthen Rajinikanth’s dominance in Indian cinema.
