The Korean performer Cho Jin Woong has declared that he will not continue going through the haunted woods of the entertainment industry as the accusations of the past have surfaced again. The 6th of December was the day when his agency SARAM Entertainment made this decision public which, in other words, he had already made it a point that he was done with the industry. Just a day prior, reports were out that explained his high-school bad behavior and even mentioned a stint in a youth-detention facility.

“I’m sorry, I know my past has caused great disappointment to many and to the public as well. Thus, I will very humbly accept all criticism and will close this chapter of my acting career,” he said while also highlighting his desire to re-emerge as “a man of good standing” through the rebuilding of himself.

He was reported to be in such bad company when Dispatch dropped the bomb that he had juvenile records including stealing cars, murder, and last but not least, the notorious drunken fight that ended up taking place at the set of Once Upon a Time in High School. SARAM Entertainment took full responsibility while apologizing, yet they also stated that several of the tales could only be partly verified since they happened more than 30 years ago. Besides that, the agency remarked that the whole “name-change” thing which was aimed at the hiding of the past was not so, but was rather a move towards personal reform.

With the entry of Cho to the sidedoor, the fate of Signal 2, the much-awaited sequel to tvN’s acclaimed drama Signal, is called into question. The show was to come back with the same lead stars—Cho Jin Woong, Kim Hye Soo, and Lee Je Hoon. Now, when one of the main spirits is even leaving the industry, the fate of the staging is still unclear.
