South Korean actor and singer Cha Eun-woo will commence his mandatory military service on July 28, according to a statement from his management agency, Fantagio.
The 28-year-old entertainer, recognized for his roles in television dramas and as a member of the K-pop group ASTRO, has received official confirmation from the Military Manpower Administration regarding his enlistment into the Army Military Band.
Earlier this month, Cha submitted his application to join the military’s music division. Fantagio confirmed that the application was successful and noted he will first undergo basic training before beginning his duties as a member of the band.
To ensure safety and maintain order, Fantagio stated the enlistment date and location will not be disclosed to the public. The agency also highlighted that no public events will accompany the enlistment.
The agency urged fans to continue their support, saying, “We kindly request your encouragement as Cha Eun-woo fulfills his military obligations and returns in good health.”
Following the announcement, fans shared messages of support across social media platforms. Some expressed sadness over the temporary farewell, while others praised Cha’s decision and noted the importance of completing the service early in his career.
