Box Office: Vijay Deverakonda’s ‘Kingdom’ Sees Sharp Drop on Day 2 After Record Opening
Vijay Deverakonda’s Kingdom sees Day 2 drop to ₹7.5 crore after a record-breaking ₹18 crore debut; two-day total hits ₹25.5 crore at the box office.
Vijay Deverakonda’s spy thriller Kingdom drops on Day 2 after massive ₹18 crore debut, now at ₹25.5 crore in two days.

Vijay Deverakonda's most recent action thriller, Kingdom, had a sharp decline in box office receipts on its second day following a good opening. Despite opening at ₹18 crore on Thursday, the Telugu-language spy movie only made ₹7.5 crore on Friday, bringing its two-day total to ₹25.5 crore nett, according to Sacnilk trade estimates.
Record-Shattering Debut, Then Slump
Gowtam Tinnanuri's Kingdom was the highest opening day of Deverakonda's career, grossing more than the opening receipts of his other flicks, Khushi (₹15.25 crore) and The Family Star (₹5.75 crore). Even though it received mixed reviews, the film's sleek visuals and exciting spy plot attracted a lot of viewers on Day 1 in Telugu-speaking areas.
But the more than 50% decline on Friday raises questions about its long-term box office chances. According to analysts, the decline might be caused by a combination of competition from other recent releases and uneven word-of-mouth.
Roundup of Reviews: Magnificent Images, Poor Narrative
India.According to Today.in, Kingdom is "visually striking but lacking emotional depth," earning it a rating of 2.5 out of 5. Although critics praised the film's strong score by Anirudh Ravichander and its cinematography by Girish Gangadharan and Jomon T. John, some felt the tale fell flat.
"Kingdom would be a wholesome film if the story also lived up to the expectations," the review stated.
Cast and Production
Kingdom stars Vijay Deverakonda in the lead role, with Satyadev and Bhagyashri Borse in supporting parts. The film is produced by Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya, and had faced multiple delays before finally releasing on July 31, 2025.
Outlook for the Weekend
The trade analysts are cautiously hopeful despite the Day 2 decline. It is anticipated that the movie would pick up steam over the weekend, particularly if Saturday and Sunday see higher attendance. Kingdom might still be a financial success with a good weekend.
