Playback singer Arijit Singh, known for his vast influence on Bollywood music, is now among the highest-paid performers in India, charging up to Rs 14 crore for a two-hour concert, according to industry insiders.
Music composer Monty Sharma, in a recent interaction with digital platform Lallantop, reflected on the shifting dynamics of the Indian music industry. Citing examples from his own early career, Sharma noted that full orchestral compositions once cost producers just Rs 2 lakh. “We used to compose entire songs with 40-piece orchestras within limited budgets,” he said.
He explained that following his success, his own per-song payment rose to Rs 35,000, irrespective of actual production expenses. Sharma then spoke about how digital exposure has radically reshaped artist earnings in the current era.
Referring to Arijit Singh, Sharma stated that the singer, once known for spending long hours in studio sessions, now reportedly takes Rs 2 crore for each performance. “If someone is booking Arijit, they are paying Rs 2 crore, no second thought,” Sharma said, highlighting how the rise of streaming services and YouTube has significantly expanded audience reach and concert fees.
Singer Rahul Vaidya, in a separate interview, echoed similar estimates and revealed that Arijit Singh’s fees could climb as high as Rs 14 crore for a two-hour live act, positioning him among the top earners in the Indian entertainment circuit.
Arijit Singh’s career has been shaped by a string of chart-topping songs. His discography includes hits like “Tum Hi Ho” (Aashiqui 2), “Channa Mereya” (Ae Dil Hai Mushkil), “Phir Le Aaya Dil” (Barfi!), and “Kesariya” (Brahmāstra).
