Fifteen years since its debut, Vedam, the 2010 Telugu film starring Allu Arjun, Anushka Shetty, and Manchu Manoj, remains a milestone in multi-narrative storytelling. The film’s anniversary has prompted reflections from its cast and crew, bringing back memories of its unconventional promotion and impact.

Filmmaker Krish, who helmed Vedam, shared a surprising episode that unfolded just before the movie hit screens. As part of its promotional strategy, a large hoarding featuring Anushka Shetty’s character in a bold visual was placed at the busy Punjagutta junction in Hyderabad.

“The response to that hoarding was overwhelming. It drew so much attention that it led to over 40 accidents in that area,” Krish said, adding that traffic police received numerous complaints, prompting the banner’s removal within days. “It was a striking example of how much curiosity her role had generated,” he remarked.

Vedam marked a departure from conventional formats with its hyperlink narrative, bringing together five distinct storylines. The film opened to critical acclaim and later achieved cult status for its storytelling and ensemble cast.

Now, 15 years later, Krish and Anushka Shetty have teamed up again for a rural crime drama titled Ghaati. Slated to release on July 11, 2025, the film features Anushka in a lead role as a marijuana trader caught in a high-stakes conflict. The storyline, according to insiders, leans heavily into rustic realism and explores themes of crime, survival, and redemption.
