Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan has reportedly expanded his real estate holdings in Ayodhya with the acquisition of a 25,000-square-foot plot, industry sources familiar with the matter said Thursday.
The newly purchased parcel is estimated to be worth approximately Rs 40 crore and lies in proximity to the upscale ‘Saryu’ township, a premium residential development where the actor has previously invested.
This marks Bachchan’s fourth known property investment in Ayodhya. Earlier, the actor acquired a 5,372-square-foot site at a cost of Rs 4.54 crore, followed by a Rs 14.5 crore investment in the Saryu project for a 54,000-square-foot unit. His latest land purchase suggests a continued focus on the region’s growing real estate potential.
The megastar had earlier committed Rs 20 crore—split evenly—into a realty venture led by film producer Lalit Pandit. Industry insiders indicate that some of these investments were made jointly with his son Abhishek Bachchan.
Unconfirmed reports hint at a possible memorial being planned by Bachchan in honor of his father, the late poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan. However, no official confirmation has been issued regarding the intended use of the newly acquired plot.
On the cinematic front, Bachchan was last seen in Vettaiyan and Kalki 2898 AD. He is next set to appear in Ramayana: Part 1, portraying the mythological character Jatayu.
