Nandamuri Balakrishna’s much-awaited Telugu action drama Akhanda 2 has finally released after multiple delays — and the film is now racing toward the ₹20 crore mark within just two days. Directed by Boyapati Srinu, the sequel to the 2021 blockbuster features Samyuktha Menon, Aadhi Pinisetty, Harshaali Malhotra, Jagapathi Babu, Kabir Duhan Singh and Saswata Chatterjee in key roles.
Produced by Ram Achanta, Gopi Achanta and Ishan Saksena under 14 Reels Plus and IVY Entertainment, Akhanda 2 opened to mixed reviews but strong fan buzz.
Akhanda 2 Release Delay: Why the Film Was Postponed
Just hours before its originally planned December 5 release, the makers announced that the film would not hit theatres “due to unavoidable circumstances.” Reports indicated that production house 14 Reels had an outstanding arbitral award of ₹28 crore to Eros International related to earlier films, prompting the Madras High Court to issue an injunction.
- The makers later resolved the matter, clearing the way for the film's release.

Audience Response: Mixed to Highly Polarised
Fan reactions on X (formerly Twitter) reflect a split verdict:
Fans Loving the Action & BGM
Many praised Thaman’s “thundering BGM,” Balakrishna’s “mass screen presence,” and the high-voltage action sequences.
One user wrote: “Power-packed action, top-class visuals… Balayya sir deserves a National Award for this performance.”
Others Criticising Predictable Storyline
Some called the film “an assault on the senses,” criticising the over-the-top action, loud background score and inconsistent narration.
A few die-hard fans also admitted disappointment, calling the second half weak.
Critical Review
The Indian Express rated Akhanda 2 2.5/5, noting that while the film has some entertaining, self-aware moments, the narrative becomes chaotic as it progresses. The review highlighted:
Loud dialogues
Over-the-top action blocks
Visually impressive but exaggerated sequences
Director–Actor Combo Returns
Boyapati Srinu and Balakrishna earlier delivered hits such as Simha (2010), Legend (2014) and Akhanda (2021). The first Akhanda was made on a ₹50 crore budget and grossed ₹117 crore worldwide despite mixed reviews.
With Akhanda 2, the duo reunites for another mass-heavy entertainer that’s drawing both applause and criticism — but continues to perform strongly at the box office.
