As Ramesh Sippy's landmark movie Sholay is going to be a part of the wonderful theatrical re-release on December 12, anticipation is lifting across the nation. But think of no one who is more excited than Abhishek Bachchan, who through social media has loud and clear declared to celebrate what he calls a dream come true- and that is watching his father Amitabh Bachchan's classic film live on the big screen for the first time.

Abhishek Bachchan: "I have NEVER seen Sholay in a Theatre"

Abhishek took a walk down memory lane and posted an old poster of Sholay on X (previously Twitter). He said:

"The greatest story never told! Just waiting to see Sholay in its full glory on the big screen. I have NEVER seen Sholay on the big screen, I have only seen it on TV and VHS/DVD. It has been a dream since so long.”

The instant connection was made by the fans with his emotional remark which was the cause for the audience to celebrate a rare chance to experience again the magic of one of the most powerful movies in Indian cinema.

Sholay Returning with the Uncut Original Ending

Among several factors lifting the movie re-release to the level of a monumental one, the public showing of the film's original uncut ending, which has not been seen publically in the past 50 years, is definitely the major factor.

The ending was changed in the time of the 1975 Emergency due to the imposition of censorship guidelines. Now, for the first time, the viewers will be seeing the climax exactly the way the director Ramesh Sippy imagined it.

Sippy Films gave an official statement:

"Sholay: The Final Cut — In cinemas December 12, 2025. Experience the original uncut version for the first time ever, restored in 4K and Dolby 5.1 by Film Heritage Foundation."

This new version, with perfect restoration and sound, is going to be a cinematically treat for a whole generation.

Why Sholay Still Rules Indian Cinema

Sholay, released in 1975, remains one of the most loved and watched Indian films ever. It not only came up with its catchy dialogues and great characters but also through its screenplay laid down the Indian pop culture like very few films have.

Alongwith a terrific cast- Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, Hema Malini, Sanjeev Kumar, and Amjad Khan- Sholay is still making its presence felt in both film industry and audience even after 50 years.
