Achieving a Rs 100 crore global opening on the first day remains one of the toughest benchmarks in Indian cinema. While the milestone is increasingly attainable, only a handful of films and directors have managed this, and fewer still have done it consecutively.
Director Sujeeth, who recently helmed superstar Pawan Kalyan’s action thriller They Call Him OG, has now entered the exclusive club of filmmakers who have delivered back-to-back 100 crore openers. Sujeeth previously directed Prabhas-starrer Saaho, which opened with 125+ crores worldwide.
The elite list of directors includes:
SS Rajamouli – Baahubali 2 (2017), RRR (2022)
Rajamouli established a new benchmark for pan-Indian cinema. Baahubali 2 registered an unprecedented 200+ crore global debut, followed by RRR, which replicated the extraordinary performance with another 200+ crore opening. He remains the only Indian filmmaker to achieve such repeated record-breaking launches.
Prashanth Neel – KGF Chapter 2 (2022), Salaar (2023)
Neel solidified his reputation as a mass-action director with KGF: Chapter 2, starring Kannada superstar Yash, and later with Salaar Part 1: Ceasefire, featuring Pan-India star Prabhas. Both films recorded first-day worldwide collections exceeding 150 crores, confirming his consistency in delivering major box office openings.
Lokesh Kanagaraj – Leo (2023), Coolie (2025)
The Tamil filmmaker has emerged as a leading force in mass entertainers. Thalapathy Vijay’s Leo opened with 140+ crores globally, and he followed it with Rajinikanth’s Coolie, which became the first Tamil film to surpass a 150 crore worldwide opening.
Sujeeth – Saaho (2019), They Call Him OG (2025)
Sujeeth’s work on Saaho surprised the industry with a 125+ crore global debut. With They Call Him OG, starring Pawan Kalyan, he has once again crossed the 100 crore mark on the first day, officially joining the league of directors with consecutive high-grossing launches.
