Are you curious about how much money is sitting in your PF account? Checking it is easier than ever before! Almost everyone must be questioning where they stand in terms of finances. And so we provide five sureshot ways that calculate your PF balance using the citizen's name.

1. Easiest Avoidance: EPFO Website for Optimized Balance Enquiry

In order to get the balance, one should visit the website, www.epfindia.gov.in

  • Click on: Our Services, and then finally click on For employees.
  • Move to the Services menu and click on "Member Passbook."
  • User login involves : UAN (Universal Account Number), password followed by a captcha code.
  • This gives instant access to the PF balance along with the ledger.

2. SMS Route for PF Enquiry

  • The text message should be in the following format where one needs to replace the word 'ENG' with the language of preference, which is one of the following: TEL (Telugu), HIN (Hindi), ENG (English)
  • The SMS goes to the number 7738299899.
  • An instant reply unveils your PF balance.

3. Via Missed Call

  • Give a missed call from your registered mobile number to 9966044425
  • The call will disconnect automatically.
  • Shortly after that, you will receive an SMS with your PF balance details.

4. Check PF Balance via UMANG App

  • Open UMANG App (or visit the website)
  • Search EPFO services and log in with UAN and Password
  • Get to PF passbook and view both the balance and transactions history

5. Detailed PF Balance Check on UMANG App

  • Download UMANG App from the Play Store or App Store
  • Sign up using your mobile number and verify the OTP
  • Click the three horizontal lines at the top left
  • Go to the Service Directory, search for EPFO.
  • Select View Passbook, log in with your UAN and password and click for the PF balance.

Explanation of Employee Provident Fund (EPF)

Employee Provident Fund, EPF, is a savings scheme for employees. The employee and employer contribute portions of the monthly salary to the EPF account. The total amount in the account, along with interest, can be withdrawn:

Withdrawal Rules:

  • One can withdraw up to 75 % of the PF balance when they are unemployed.
  • After a year, the remaining 25% can be withdrawn.
  • The full withdrawal with around 25% is possible during the retirement at the age of 55, permanent occupational disability, or any employment ban on the employee, resignation, or when the account holder permanently goes overseas.
  • You should check your PF balance regularly to know your savings and plan your financial futures.
