WBJEE 2025 Result Postponed Again amid High Court Contempt Proceedings

Key Update:

The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB) has again delayed the WBJEE 2025 result, originally scheduled for August 7, 2025, following contempt proceedings initiated by the Calcutta High Court. The hearing is set for 10:30 AM today (August 7), at which time the state’s position will be clarified by the Higher Education Secretary. Until then, the court has ordered that all result declaration and counselling activities remain suspended

What Caused the Delay?

A group of WBJEE and JEMAS‑PG candidates filed complaints alleging that the state violated a May 21, 2025 High Court order on OBC reservation policy. In response, Justice Kausik Chanda initiated a suo motu contempt proceeding. The HC has issued a direction that no admission process—including result release or counselling—can proceed until the division bench decides on the stay application

What Happens Now

The HC hearing is scheduled for today at 10:30 AM. The Principal Secretary of Higher Education has been summoned to present the state’s case virtually.

♦ Outcome from the division bench will determine if WBJEEB can proceed with result publication and counselling. Until that decision, no further action is allowed

How Candidates Can Prepare

♦ Keep application form number and date of birth ready to access the result once released at wbjeeb.nic.in/wbjee.

♦ Result will be available as a rank card, containing roll number, paper-wise marks, merit rank (GMR/PMR), and qualifying status

♦ For discrepancies, candidates must email [email protected] within 24 hours, attaching supporting documents. Physical representations are accepted until noon on the next working day

Insights & Context

♦ WBJEE 2025 was conducted on April 27, 2025 as a pen‑and‑paper exam. The result has been delayed for over a month due to legal disputes over OBC quota updates

♦ WBJEEB chairperson Sonali Chakraborty Banerjee had stated the board was ready with the results as early as June 5, but legal issues stalled the announcement

♦ Political tensions have intensified: BJP West Bengal has accused the state government of stalling WBJEE results, contending that students have lost an academic semester

What Next for Aspirants

♦ Stay connected to Shiksha.com and WBJEEB’s official website for updates regarding the court verdict and new result date.

♦ Ensure supporting documents and login credentials are on hand for when the process resumes.

♦ If counselling begins after result release, registration, choice filling, and fee payment will follow according to rank, preference, category, and seat availability.

♦ Cut‑off ranks will be announced post-result, based on factors such as exam difficulty, applicant pool, and historical trends; meeting the cut‑off does not guarantee admission
