The state of Telangana has done it and has disclosed the list of holidays for the year 2026. The list includes general and optional holidays that will be applied to all state government offices and employees.

The requirement placed on government offices in Telangana consisted of shutting down on Sundays and the second Saturdays of each month throughout the year. The holiday calendar would be inclusive of the festivals, national observance days, and major religious events but the workers would also be given opportunity to pick some of the non-mandatory holidays.

Telangana General Holidays 2026

The Telangana government has declared the subsequent general holidays for the year 2026:

January 14 - Bhogi

January 15 - Sankranti / Pongal

January 26 - Republic Day

February 15 - Maha Shivaratri

March 3 - Holi

March 19 - Ugadi

March 21 - Eid-ul-Fitr (Ramzan)

March 22 – Following Day of Ramzan

March 27 – Sri Rama Navami

April 3 – Good Friday

April 5 – Babu Jagjivan Ram Jayanti

April 14 – Dr B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti

May 27 – Eid-ul-Azha (Bakrid)

June 26 – Shahadat Imam Hussain

August 10 – Bonalu

August 15 – Independence Day

August 26 – Eid Milad-un-Nabi

September 4 – Sri Krishna Ashtami

September 14 – Vinayaka Chavithi

October 2 – Gandhi Jayanti

October 18 – Saddula Bathukamma

October 20 – Vijaya Dasami

October 21 – Following Day of Vijaya Dasami

November 8 – Deepavali

November 24 – Kartika Purnima / Guru Nanak Jayanti

December 25 – Christmas

December 26 – Following Day of Christmas (Boxing Day)

Optionally 5 holidays may be enjoyed by state government employees out of this list, subject to departmental permission:

Important Notes

Optional holidays must be selected in advance as per departmental guidelines.

The Muslim holidays may change depending on the sighting of the moon.

For next year, there will be no extra holidays for workers and all changes in the holiday schedule will be made known through the government announcement.

It is the responsibility of the employee to adjust their vacations according to the calendar provided.
