NTPC’s ‘Utkarsh Meritorious Scholarship’ is a transformative initiative aimed at uplifting economically disadvantaged students in villages surrounding its projects with core objectives to ignite a spirit of competitiveness and provide essential financial support for education, a senior official of NTPC Simhadri Super Thermal Power Plant said.

Recognising the merit of class-X and XII students of Parawada mandal in Anakapalli district and 77th ward of GVMC, Visakhapatnam district on Tuesday, NTPC Simhadri under its CR-CD initiatives, distributed the achievement certificates and merit scholarship amount of Rs 3,000 to each student. The total number of beneficiaries for the meritorious award is 65 from 13 ZPH High Schools of Parawada Mandal and three junior colleges of Parawada, Thanam and Islampeta.

Addressing the students, parents, sarpanches of Vadacheepurupalli, Ravada, Naidupalem, Tikkavanipalem, Mutyalammapalem and headmasters of ZPH Schools/principals of junior colleges, Sanjay Kumar Sinha, Head of Project, informed that besides many community developmental activities, every year NTPC Simhadri, under its CSR-CD initiatives, distributes scholarships to encourage the students of surrounding villages for class-X and XII only. However, he requested the parents and sarpanches to identify and communicate the opportunity of getting scholarships to the engineering and medical students, who are getting admissions in government institutions on merit basis.

This initiative underscores NTPC’s dedication to community development and education as a catalyst for empowerment. By providing vital financial assistance to deserving students, NTPC is sowing the seeds of a brighter, more inclusive future. The Utkarsh Merit Scholarship stands as a testament to the power of education in transforming lives and building stronger communities. Through this program, NTPC is not only investing in the academic success of these young minds but also in the prosperity and well-being of the communities they represent, he stated.
