IIM Vizag registers yet another spectacular show in placement

Visakhapatnam Indian Institute of Management (IIM)-Visakhapatnam has continued its successful streak in placements for its flagship Post Graduate Progamme (PGP) of 2019-21 batch. Despite the impact of Covid-19 and the market slowdown this year, recruiters reposed continued faith in the Institute in the final placement. Significantly, the entire process was conducted in virtual mode. IIMV has the pride of maintaining its legacy of 100 per cent placements on the strength of the unwavering support of esteemed recruiters and the efforts of students.

Held on a rolling basis, the placement season witnessed more than 100 companies participating in the process and making multiple offers with 72 new recruiters offering roles across various domains, including consulting, BFSI, strategy, sales & marketing, HR, IT & analytics. There has been an overwhelming increase in the number of recruiters willing to partner with the Institute, an indication of its rapid strides over the five years since inception that continued in 2020-21, notwithstanding the challenges posed by the pandemic.

With 39 per cent, IT/ITES continued to bet big on new talent, followed by BFSI (12 per cent). The other sectors were Manufacturing (11 per cent), FinTech (4 per cent), Consulting (4 per cent), EdTech (4 per cent), Logistic Services (4 per cent), FMCG (3 per cent), E-commerce (2 per cent), Luxury (1 per cent) and Digital Media (1 per cent). Some of the prominent recruiters include Amazon, Amul, Anand Rathi, AU Bank, BlueStar, Byju's, Deloitte, ESAF Bank, Foxconn, Franklin Templeton, HCL, ICICI Lombard, ICICI Prudential, Inmobi, KPMG, MuSigma, MTR, NCR Corporation, SBIGI, TA Digital, TATA AIA, TATA Power, Tech Mahindra, TVS Motors, YES Bank, Zetwerk - counted among the who's who of the corporate world, were the prime recruiters.

Expressing his happiness at the outcome, the Director Prof. M Chandrasekhar attributed the encore in 100 per cent placements to the high-quality learning outcomes facilitated by the largest cohort of faculty among new generation IIMs; and a combination of ability, agility, aptitude and aspirational attitude of the students who quickly adapted themselves to the online mode of classes and leveraged it gainfully to excel academically, evolve emotionally and emerge successfully.

CDS Chairperson Prof Saroj K Pani expressed his gratitude to all the recruiters who have reposed their faith on the students of IIM-V despite the challenges created by the ongoing Covid situation.
