IIM Visakhapatnam does well again in placement

Notwithstanding the fallout of the pandemic on the job market, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM)-Visakhapatnam popular as IIM-V set up after bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh under 'one State one IIM norm' has once again achieved 100% placement for its MBA 2020-22 batch.

IIM-V has the highest faculty cohort of 30 on rolls among all the seven new-generation IIMs with impressive academic and research credentials from top-notch national and international institutions. It also has the added advantage of having a good industry experience, representing 15 States in the country.

IIM-V Director Prof. M.Chandrasekhar said that the students have been offered niche roles with industry leaders and few have even gone ahead to create history with respect to the stipends and the roles offered. Sustained success is a way of life at IIM Vizag and its students have proved this once again.

Held on a rolling basis, the summer placement season witnessed more than 50 companies participating in the process and making multiple offers. Prof. Chandrasekhar told Bizz Buzz on Saturday that among the new IIMs set up after 2014, IIM-V had carved a niche for itself by rolling out globally competitive managers.

He said IIM-V has achieved an impressive growth by 20.4% in the average stipend offered compared to last year at Rs.62,264. The figures broke all previous records and set new benchmarks, he remarked.

With the highest stipend at Rs.2 lakh, the institute received offers for stipend for the top quartile at Rs.1.17 lakh and the top 10 percentile at Rs.1.46 lakh, The season witnessed participation from companies from high-growth sectors like IT, BFSI,

EdTech, manufacturing, FMCG, hospitality, and infrastructure. Some of the prominent recruiters who participated and hired from IIM-V include Bosch, Dalmia Bharat, ICICI Lombard, IOCL, Lubrizol, MTR, Modern Foods, Outlook, RBI, TAFE, TATA

AIG, V-Guard and Yes Bank. The recruiters offered roles in different management functions ranging across various domains like sales & marketing, product management, analytics, HR, finance & operations.

The continued trust and confidence reposed in the students at the Institute even in such testing times is an exemplification of their ability to tame the toughest challenges and prove their mettle, even when the going gets tough, a communique issued by the IIM-V after the end of placement process, stated.

Prof. Chandrasekhar said that their success this time is a fitting recognition of the high talent of the students. The record-breaking performance does not come as a surprise as the students have been regularly winning in style, several tough

competitions held pan-India organised by reputed business schools, he said. Thanking the renowned

recruiters, he exuded confidence that they would find immense value in the contribution by the interns of the Institute.

Prof. Saroj Kumar Pani, Chairperson-CDS shared: "Despite the challenges due to the ongoing COVID situation, IIM-V increased the breadth of recruiters as well as depth of roles for its summer internship program. This was possible as we give importance to matching a student's abilities and their interest to recruiters' requirements. It's not easy but certainly it's a win-win situation for our students as well as recruiters."
