IIM-V inks MoU with NCGG to work for good governance

An MoU has been signed between Indian Institute of Management-Visakhapatnam and the National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG), an autonomous institute under the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), Government of India, for exploring the opportunities of conducting joint academic programs, exchange of faculty, collaboration in conducting research and consulting, in areas of mutual interest.

Visakhapatnam An MoU has been signed between Indian Institute of Management-Visakhapatnam and the National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG), an autonomous institute under the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), Government of India, for exploring the opportunities of conducting joint academic programs, exchange of faculty, collaboration in conducting research and consulting, in areas of mutual interest.

V. Srinivas, Additional Secretary DARPG and Director General (NCGG) and M. Chandrasekhar, Director of IIM-Visakhapatnam exchanged the MoU documents in the presence of Poonam Singh, Professor at the NCGG and other faculty members of IIM-V on Thursday.

In his address at the event, Srinivas emphasised on the role academic institutions play in building robust governance and public management models. He explained about the evolution of civil services in India and the role played by the DARPG in bringing reforms in good governance and public service delivery.

Srinivas encouraged IIM-V to take up action research projects in evidence-based policy-making, developing good governance indices and interventions in the development management space. He highlighted the scope that the institute could play in the ESG (environment, social and governance) area.

As IIMs are well-known for case-based teaching methods, he urged the Institute faculty to collaborate with NCGG in developing good case studies tailored to Indian management education.

Earlier, Prof. Chandrasekhar explained about the key initiatives that IIM-V that made it distinct in many ways and helped it occupy a niche place in the comity of IIMs. He evinced keen interest in translating the articles of the MOU into action, on priority.
