Cognizant to Establish ₹1,582.98 Crore IT Campus in Andhra Pradesh, Generating 8,000 Jobs

In a major leap forward for Andhra Pradesh’s growing IT sector, Cognizant Technology Solutions has announced plans to set up a state-of-the-art IT/ITES campus in Visakhapatnam. The project involves a massive investment of ₹1,582.98 crore and is expected to create 8,000 new jobs over the coming years.

The proposal was approved during a State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) meeting held on Thursday and chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. As part of the approval, the Andhra Pradesh government will allocate 21.31 acres of land at Kapuluppada under the VMRDA jurisdiction to Cognizant — at a nominal rate of just 99 paise per acre.

This significant move is being hailed as a major milestone in Visakhapatnam’s evolution into a premier IT hub, further solidifying its reputation as a key destination for technology investments. It also reflects the proactive efforts of IT Minister Nara Lokesh, who has been actively working to attract high-profile companies to the region and strengthen the state’s digital economy.

According to company sources, Cognizant aims to commence commercial operations by March 2029, providing a substantial boost to employment, infrastructure, and economic development in the region.

This initiative underscores Cognizant’s long-term vision and commitment to expanding its footprint in India, while also highlighting Andhra Pradesh’s growing appeal as a business-friendly state with robust policy support for the tech industry.
