AP student wins TCS rural IT quiz State finals

Hyderabad Ganesh Bharadwaj from Kommareddy EM High School of Krishna district has won Andhra Pradesh State finals of Tata Consultancy Services Rural IT Quiz and Patnala Hariteja, AP Model School, Tamada became the runner-up.

The winner was awarded Rs 10,000 and the runner-up Rs 7,000 worth vouchers. These winners from the regional rounds will compete at the national finals this month. The national-level prizes are - educational scholarships of Rs 1,00,000 to the winner, and Rs 50,000 for the runner up.

The 2021 edition of the quiz consists of eight regional rounds across Gujarat, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka.

The 22nd edition of the quiz was conducted in association with the Department of Electronics, IT, BT and Science and Technology, Government of Karnataka and supported by the Department of School Education, Andhra Pradesh.

Being in a virtual format, students got an opportunity to enjoy the online tests. The quiz witnessed participation from several districts across AP, with students from class VIII to XII participating in the program. After a preliminary online test, six students qualified for the finals. The finals had five segments – Byte Clouds, Byte Recognition, Byte Context, Borderless Bytes, Bytes Agile – which tested students' knowledge in the IT domain, and prompted them to think laterally.

TCS has been organising the Rural IT Quiz since the year 2,000 in association with the Department of Electronics, IT, BT and Science and Technology, Government of Karnataka, to enhance IT awareness amongst students from smaller towns and districts.
