A major fillip to employability skills in Andhra Pradesh

Visakhapatnam Indian School of Business has joined hands with two government bodies of Andhra Pradesh who are extensively working on skill development to offer online courses to the students to improve their employability.

ISB signed MoU with AP State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) and AP Information Technology Academy (APITA) to offer skilling programmes in Hyderabad on Friday.

As part of this initiative, ISB will offer two joint certification courses in business literacy and behavioural skills through APSSDC and digital literacy and entrepreneurial literacy through APITA, through which students of AP could become more employable and industry-ready. ISB is offering these programmes as foundational elective courses in an asynchronous format, keeping in mind the changes coming up through the National Education Policy.

The MoU for APSSDC-ISB was inked by N. Bangara Raju, MD, APSSDC and the APITA-ISB MoU was signed by T. Anil Kumar, CEO, APITA. Prof. Deepa Mani, Deputy Dean-Executive Education and Digital Learning at ISB, signed on behalf of the ISB. The MoUs were exchanged in the presence of K. Ajay Reddy, Chairman, APSSDC and Prof. Madan Pillutla, Dean of ISB.

Anil Kumar told Bizz Buzz that the State Government is not only offering courses to improve skills of the students from various colleges but also providing them employment support by tying up with various organisations like Infosys.

Prof. Madan Pillutla said: ""To drive the expected pace of development in the state, its citizens need to be smarter communicators, effective workers, good negotiators, savvy decision-makers as well as be digitally empowered. We are pleased that the programmes designed and delivered by our world-class faculty will contribute towards this."

Profe. K. Hemachandra Reddy, Chairman, AP State Council for Higher Education, said that such courses will add to the confidence-building measure among students. He also mentioned that these courses of ISB would get the necessary credit equivalence thereby offering students a wider choice of courses.

Prof. Deepa Mani from ISB said they are honoured to join hands with the Government of Andhra Pradesh in its skill development initiatives and they are sure this partnership will equip students to gain much needed competitive advantage. All the courses are specially designed to cater to the fast-evolving global conditions and expectations. ISB will soon expand the portfolio to add many more courses.

DNV Kumara, Director External Relations and Head-Government Solutions, Centre for Executive Education, ISB was present.
