Co-founder Nikhil Kamath of Zerodha to generously donate majority of his fortune

Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath has joined The Giving Pledge, a philanthropic initiative founded by Warren Buffett, Melinda French Gates, and Bill Gates in 2010. Kamath becomes the fourth Indian to join the community, following Azim Premji, Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, and Rohini and Nandan Nilekani.

Expressing his gratitude, Kamath stated that he is committed to positively impacting the world and shares the foundation's mission of creating a more equitable society. With extensive experience in the stock markets spanning almost two decades, Kamath founded Zerodha in 2010 and has been involved in various ventures, including private investments, hedge funds, fintech incubators, and supporting climate-related non-profits.

Kamath's inclusion in The Giving Pledge was announced during the 13th gathering of the community, where philanthropists from 29 countries shared ideas to enhance the effectiveness of their giving. The Giving Pledge now comprises 241 philanthropists worldwide and aims to inspire increased charitable contributions and early establishment of giving plans. Alongside Kamath, several other individuals from different countries were also welcomed into the community since the last gathering in June 2022.
