New Apple MacBook Pro with M1X chip may launch at WWDC 2021

Apple WWDC 2021 is happening next month. The developers' conference is kicking off on June 7 with the keynote address by CEO Tim Cook. The WWDC is a software-centric event where Apple shows off the new iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS versions, which do not arrive for everyone until the iPhone launch in September. My point is software is what WWDCs have mostly been about with rare hardware-related occurrences. The renowned tipster Jon Prosser is now claiming new MacBook Pro models will also debut at this year's WWDC.

Prosser retweeted AppleTrack's report, saying that he can confirm the MacBook Pro "is coming." The report seems a speculative one where the latest Memoji-inspired poster for the WWDC seems to hint at an imminent launch of new MacBook Pro models. Memoji characters are looking at their own MacBooks -- and that is what inspires this speculation. Prosser did not say anything other than giving his confirmation of the MacBook Pro rumour, so we are still short of fresh details if Apple is planning such a thing for WWDC.

Apple has previously showcased its products at WWDC, so this time it may be one of those events. Plus, Prosser's confirmation falls in line with what Bloomberg said last week. The Bloomberg report mentioned that Apple may launch new MacBook Pro models as early as this summer. And these MacBook Pro models will bring the M1 successor for better performance and graphics. There may be two sizes for MacBook Pro, the 14-inch and the 16-inch, and both may use the new Mini-LED display tech for better power consumption.

An exhaustive report, revealed a lot of details about the upcoming MacBook Pros. Not only will they run a 10-core Apple Silicon, which may be dubbed M1X or something, but the new MacBook Pros will also bring back the HDMI port, along with an SD card reader and MagSafe charging point. Apple is likely to give another makeover to its MacBook range, and it seems the design change may include removing the "MacBook Pro" label from beneath the display. But while all these changes may or may not find takers, there is one thing that will make the MacBook Pro better by leaps and bounds, and that would be the new configuration of GPUs, which may be 16-cores and 32-cores for the same M1X chipset.

Hardware launches at WWDC are not uncommon, but Apple tries to keep the event limited to just one product that may be crucial to developers. It was the Mac Pro and the Pro Display XDR at WWDC 2019, while last year's WWDC was all about the different operating systems in Apple's ecosystem. We will find out what it is that Apple has planned for this year's WWDC next month. The Apple WWDC 2021 keynote begins at 10.30 pm IST on June 7.
