Vijayawada Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) AP Chapter is creating a Model Postnatal Ward in Government General Hospital, Guntur. A MoU to this effect was signed between CII Foundation and the Government of Andhra Pradesh recently.

In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic it was found that parts of the public health system are at increased risk of reduced efficiency this includes healthcare services for women and children. CII is setting up the model Postnatal Ward recognising the need for stakeholders to contribute to public healthcare specifically Maternal health to thereby increase equity and reduce poverty.

CII said it aims to create optimal hospital infrastructure that addresses inadequacies in health system particularly serving vulnerable population groups. This intervention is aimed to ensure delivery of high-quality care that is accessible and efficient.

“CII has been actively working in the public health space with the understanding that Infrastructure and professional expertise are key pillars supporting the fundamental aim of promoting improved standards of care and wellbeing for all. We believe this intervention will act as a model that benchmarks quality healthcare to ensure improved mother and childcare outcomes,” said Dr M Lakshmi Prasad, Chairman, CII AP Chapter.

The MoU was signed between CII Foundation and the Govt of Andhra Pradesh in the presence of esteemed dignitaries including Vidadala Rajini, Minister for Medical and Health. The MoU was exchanged between Dr M Lakshmi Prasad, Chairman, CII Andhra Pradesh and Dr D S V L Narasimham, Director of Medical Education. D Ramakrishna, Past Chairman, CII Andhra Pradesh, Dr A Venkataramana, Chairman, CII Vijayawada Zone and D Ravindranath, Vice Chairman, CII Vijayawada Zone were also present.
