Despite comprising a significant portion of the worldwide workforce, women are notably underrepresented in leadership roles. This imbalance not only hinders the career progress of capable women aspiring to leadership but also deprives organizations of a wealth of diverse perspectives.

As per Grant Thornton’s International Business Report on ‘Women in Business 2023-The Push Parity’, 32 per cent of senior management positions are now held by women, globally, in mid-market businesses, and the same stands at 36 per cent in India.

Recognizing the contributions women make in leadership positions is essential for sustained growth. Several studies have demonstrated that organisations that encourage gender-diverse leadership teams excel in various aspects such as innovation, decision-making, and financial performance when compared to their competitors. Hence, promoting women into leadership roles isn't solely about achieving equality; it's also a strategic imperative.

Citing the Pew Research Center, it's noted that 63% of women state they have never been mentored during their professional journeys. To address the gender leadership gap, a comprehensive approach is needed, considering both internal and external factors. Women should be encouraged to embark on an inner journey of self-awareness and empowerment, embracing and leveraging their inherent strengths. This transformative process leads to a profound recognition of their feminine energy, an abundant source of strength and dynamism that can propel them into leadership roles. To make room for and be more inclusive of female leadership, organizational structures and cultural paradigms must be examined and developed from within to create an atmosphere where women may rise through the ranks and make significant contributions at the top levels of leadership, a joint effort is essential. At every stage, it is crucial to combat biases and advance equity. Unconscious biases during recruiting can be reduced by leveraging technology to implement blind recruitment methods. Women's advancement depends on creating an inclusive atmosphere where they feel respected and supported.

As per the KPMG Leadership Study, when inquired about the skills needed to advance more women into leadership positions, professional women in the workforce emphasized the following priorities: leadership training (57%) and building confidence (56%), decision-making (48%), networking (47%), and critical thinking (46%). They underscored the importance of corporations supporting women's development in their twenties (80%) and career progression in their thirties (61%).
