Visakhapatnam: IIPE first convocation today

Visakhapatnam: THE first convocation of Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy (IIPE) will be addressed by Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu here at VMRDA Children's Arena on Friday.

Rameshwar Teli, Union Minister of State of Petroleum and Natural Gas will attend as the guest of honour.

In the first convocation, as many as 170 students from the batches of 2016-20 and 2017-21 will be awarded the degrees. Three students from each batch are receiving the gold medals and merit certificates for their academic excellence, according to IIPE Director Prof VSRK Prasad.

IIPE was set up in Visakhapatnam by the Government of India under the aegis of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, in 2016 in accordance with the provisions made in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014.

The institute has extended the invitation to all Directors and Vice-Chancellors of universities in and around Visakhapatnam. The CMDs of oil PSUs and other prominent personalities from the petroleum and gas sector are expected to attend.
