Sankar Foundation performs four lakh eye operations since 1997

Sankar Foundation, an established organisation which runs a multi-speciality hospital in the city and at Srikakulam and several satellite referral centres in North Andhra has achieved a remarkable milestone of successfully completing four lakh eye surgeries since its inception in 1997.

Visakhapatnam Sankar Foundation, an established organisation which runs a multi-speciality hospital in the city and at Srikakulam and several satellite referral centres in North Andhra has achieved a remarkable milestone of successfully completing four lakh eye surgeries since its inception in 1997.

During the period, the institute gained prominence in most of the rural and tribal areas by conducting several eye camps, bringing the patients to the main hospital for surgeries.

K.B.N. Manimala, Managing Trustee and CEO of Sankar Foundation told Bizz Buzz that the Andhra Pradesh Government Is always supporting the hospital in its journey towards excellence. The hospital is implementing the government's programmes like Dr. YSR Arogyasree and Dr. YSR Kanti Velugu in true spirit and attained the confidence of the general public of the region. She attributed the success of the hospital to the commitment and dedication of doctors, paramedical staff and the employees.

The Department of Scientific and Industrial Research in the Ministry of Science and Technology recently recognised Sankar Foundation as a scientific and industrial research centre under the Scheme on Scientific and Industrial Research Organisations, 1988. The recognition will be valid till March 31, 2025.

Manimala said the recognition given to Sankar Foundation will give the morale booster to take up more research activities and scientific studies to make advances in the field of ophthalmological treatment.
