Indian Navy strengthens Puneet Sagar campaign

Visakhapatnam In pursuit of the nationwide flagship campaign Puneet Sagar Abhiyan, all units and establishments under the aegis of Eastern Naval Command undertook cleanup drives on beachfronts, coastlines and water bodies at respective stations on Saturday.

The Navy ensured contributing towards clean coasts to achieve safe seas.

The Navy is dedicating at least one day every month to coastal cleanup activities at rivers, lakes and water bodies in the proximity of Naval stations across the country.

Various areas that were attended to during this clean-up include Naval jetty seafront, Jalaripeta Beach and RK Beach in Visakhapatnam.

In addition, the cleanup drives were undertaken at Hoogly Riverfront in Kolkata, Naval Jetty seafront and Adyar beach area at Chennai and Uchipuli Beach near Rameshwaram. These activities generated a considerable amount of enthusiasm amongst the local populace also.

According to press release, the plastic and non-biodegradable wastes collected during the drives were handed over to respective local municipal corporations for recycling.
