Hyderabad to have country's biggest hospital at whopping Rs.2,100 crore

The Telangana state government has embarked on a significant initiative to construct large hospitals aimed at benefiting the underprivileged population of the state. These hospitals, collectively known as the Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS), will be established in Sanatnagar, Alwal, and LP Nagar, located in Hyderabad. A substantial land area of 25 lakh square feet has been allocated by the Telangana government for this purpose. The estimated cost for building these hospitals is approximately 2,100 crore rupees.

The vision behind these hospitals is to provide state-of-the-art facilities akin to the renowned AIIMS hospitals operated by the central government. The Telangana government has emphasized its commitment to ensuring that the quality of medical care offered in these new super specialty hospitals matches that of private hospitals. Each of the three TIMS hospitals will have a capacity of 1,000 beds.

In addition to the construction of these TIMS hospitals, the existing NIMS hospital will also undergo a significant upgrade. The NIMS Hospital, currently spread across 22 acres and equipped with 1,300 beds, will be expanded into a 2,100-bed facility at an estimated cost of Rs 1,570 crore. The newly established hospitals will house 34 specialized medical units, catering to various areas such as heart diseases, lung disorders, kidney ailments, brain conditions, and liver disorders.

It is noteworthy that these TIMS hospitals will also function as medical colleges. Postgraduate medical courses will be offered in 16 specialty departments and 15 super specialty medical departments. Moreover, the construction of a residence for doctors within the hospital premises has been planned.

This ambitious healthcare project undertaken by the Telangana state government reflects their dedication to improving medical infrastructure and services for the well-being of the people. By establishing TIMS hospitals with advanced facilities and educational opportunities, the government aims to provide accessible and high-quality medical care to the disadvantaged sections of society.
