Govt integrating GST data with ULIP now

The government has begun the process of integration of GST data with the Unified Logistics Interface Platform (ULIP). This will make logistics speedier and boost infrastructure building in general, official sources told Bizz Buzz.
ULIP was launched in September 2022 for digital integration in the logistics sector and to provide a single sign to users who trade goods and use multiple modes of transport. It was launched along with the National Logistics Policy (NLP).
ULIP offers various opportunities to private companies to develop use cases. By signing non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) and after due diligence, data on ULIP can be accessed through API integration and private players can develop apps/use cases.
API stands for application programming interface. It is a set of defined rules that enable different applications to communicate with each other, says the IBM website.
“It acts as an intermediary layer that processes data transfers between systems, letting companies open their application data and functionality to external third-party developers, business partners, and internal departments within their companies.”
The response from industry to ULIP has been good, the sources said, adding that more than 614 players have registered on the platform. As many as 142 companies have submitted 382 use cases to be hosted on ULIP, whereas 57 applications have been made live. ULIP has a dedicated portal that makes the process of data request simpler, faster, and transparent, the official press release at the time of its launch said. A dedicated support team is working round the clock to provide support to the industry players for registration on the portal.
After the registration, users need to submit their use-cases, which will then be reviewed based on the proposed usage of the requested data. After the successful review, users requesting for data have to sign a NDA. With signing of NDAs, industry players can develop APIs for integration with ULIP.
After the system security check and thorough testing of the integration, the users can fetch authentic data through ULIP from various government sources, the release said.
