Visakhapatnam: Hindustan Shipyard Ltd (HSL), a Miniratna company under the Ministry of Defence, has signed several MoUs with Indian and international firms to enhance collaboration in areas such as green technology, ship repair, design partnership, and shipbuilding.

At the just concluded India Maritime Week celebrations addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, inked MoUs with the Indian Ports Association (IPA) for the development of hydrogen tugs under the Government of India’s Green Tug Transition Programme (GTTP) and with Dredging Corporation of India Ltd (DCIL) for docking and repair of its vessels at HSL, along with strategic cooperation agreements with other leading partners from India, Korea, and the Middle East. In alignment with its long-term growth strategy, HSL is also exploring the development of a Greenfield shipyard in Andhra Pradesh to meet the increasing demand for both defence and commercial shipbuilding projects.

HSL also showcased its ongoing infrastructure augmentation and modernisation programme, aimed at enhancing capacity, productivity, and turnaround efficiency. The shipyard is gearing up to bid for commercial vessels such as Platform Supply Vessels (PSVs) and Medium Range (MR) Tankers, as well as naval platforms including Landing Platform Docks (LPDs), through collaborations with globally reputed shipbuilders and technology partners. Actively participated as an exhibitor in the IMW held in Mumbai from October 27 to 31. IMW 2025 served as a premier platform to showcase India’s growing maritime strength and progress toward the Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047, with active participation from major international shipbuilders, port authorities, technology providers, and maritime service organisations from around the world.
