What began as a romantic honeymoon in the scenic hills of Meghalaya has culminated in a shocking murder investigation, with the victim's own wife now arrested for allegedly orchestrating his death. In a case dubbed "Operation Honeymoon," police have meticulously pieced together the chilling timeline of Raja Raghuvanshi's murder, revealing his wife Sonam's alleged involvement and a bizarre social media post that ultimately gave her away.

Raja Raghuvanshi, an Indore-based man, was found dead in a gorge in the East Khasi Hills district on June 2, days after he and his newlywed wife Sonam were reported missing on May 23. Initially, Sonam was also "missing," but suspicions quickly mounted.

The Plot Unfolds:

On Monday, police announced the arrests of Sonam Raghuvanshi, her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha, and three contract killers. According to senior Shillong Police official Vivek Syiem, the accused have confessed that Sonam explicitly instructed the hired killers to "hit him (Raja)" and was present during the murder. The accused arrived in Shillong on May 22, the day before Raja was killed.

CCTV footage further solidified the police's case, showing Sonam speaking to the three hitmen approximately 10 kilometers from the crime scene.

The Escape and the Fatal Post:

Two days after the murder, on May 25, Sonam embarked on a journey from Shillong to Indore via Siliguri by train. In Indore, she reportedly met with her alleged lover Raj and stayed in a rented house before traveling to Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh, where she eventually surrendered to local police on Monday.

A crucial piece of evidence that raised police suspicion was the lack of any honeymoon photos of Sonam and Raja on social media. However, a post appeared on Raja's social media account after his murder, reading "Saat janmon ka saath" (Together for seven lifetimes). This ironic message, seemingly intended to mislead, ultimately became a key clue for investigators.

Forensic Clues and Arrests:

The breakthrough in the case came on June 3 and 4, when police received credible leads directly linking Sonam to the murder. From the crime scene, they recovered a blood-stained raincoat belonging to Sonam and a mobile screen. A jacket belonging to one of the hitmen, Akash Kumri (arrested in Uttar Pradesh's Bina), also bore blood stains. Officials believe Sonam had given her raincoat to Akash, who then discarded it at the scene, providing vital forensic evidence.

The swift arrests were the result of "Operation Honeymoon," launched on June 7, involving a dedicated team of Meghalaya police officers who fanned out to Madhya Pradesh, where all the killers hailed from. Among the arrested hitmen, Vishal was reportedly the first to attack, and Anand was apprehended still wearing the clothes he wore during the crime.

As more details emerge, this chilling case of betrayal and murder continues to grip the nation.
