Canadian Police Name Suspect in Tumbler Ridge School Shooting That Left Nine Dead
Five students and a teacher who were killed in the incident at Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia on Tuesday.
Authorities identify the suspect in the Tumbler Ridge school shooting as the nation mourns nine lives lost in one of Canada’s deadliest recent school tragedies.

Canadian authorities have identified the man in charge of carrying out the Tumbler Ridge school shooting in Canada within remote British Columbia as an 18-year young man with a history of multiple mental health issues.
Six individuals, including a teacher along with five of their students were killed during the incident that occurred on the Tuesday of Tumbler Ridge, in the valleys below the Rocky mountains. The police stated that the suspect's mother as well as his step-brother were later discovered dead in the home of their family. A body belonging to the suspect, Jesse Van Rootselaar suspect identified with self-inflicted gunshot wounds.
"This is a truly troubling incident in which nine individuals unintentionally suffered their deaths," said Dwayne McDonald, who is chief of staff for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, at a briefing held on Wednesday. He updated the death toll by nine from the initial stated 10.
There are many questions regarding the way Van Rootselaar was described in alerts. McDonald stated that authorities "identified the suspect in the manner they decided to identify the suspect" both in public and on social media.
"I can confirm it is true that Jesse was born an unnatural male, but about six years ago, began to change into female and identify as female both in public and in public," he said.
According to the police Canada school attack investigation, van Rootselaar was at The Tumbler Ridge secondary school on a regular Tuesday afternoon carrying an extended gun and an altered handgun. The shooter fired on students and staff who were killed, including a teacher. Five students aged between 12 to thirteen.
