Could one describe the narration of road rage incidences as spine-chilling? In Karnataka, both the accused Kalaripayattu martial arts instructor and his wife were arrested for murder, with the accused accused of deliberately ramming down the scooter of a food delivery boy.
Aged 32, Manoj Kumar from Kerala and his 30-year-old wife, Aarati Sharma, from Jammu & Kashmir, were arrested for killing Darshan, 24, a food delivery boy. The incident transpired on 25 October, following an altercation between the accused and the deceased.
According to the police, what started ostensibly as a minor quarrel soon developed into a full-blown, violent car chase; in his fury, the accused deliberately drove his car over the scooter of Darshan, killing him on the spot.
The accused couple appeared before a local magistrate on Wednesday and were remanded to 14 days' judicial custody.
According to the police and various sources, the investigating police team has collected CCTV footages and also eyewitness statements which explicitly paint the picture that the collision was deliberate. The investigating team is further delving into the possibility of whether the two had had intoxicants at the time of the crime.
Infuriated at the slow justice on this issue, the city has witnessed revolts demanding the authorities to impose heavy punishments against negligence and road rage.
